Why the Shamrock?

Often we do get the question why we have chosen Shamrock Information Security as our company name.
Let’s start with the first part of the question, why Shamrock.

Irish myth tells of a Catholic priest named Patrick, later saint Patrick, who travel to the emerald isle to bring Christianity to the Irish people.
He needed something to explain the trinity of Catholicism to the locals and decided on using the three leaved clover as a symbol of the holy trinity.
This small flower, known as the shamrock in the Irish language Gaelic, became the national symbol of Ireland.

Now what’s the link of that old myth and a modern company?

We need to tell a story too. A story of better protection of your company information, a story of proper handling of personal data and a story of taking proper levels of risk and handling this with risk management to protect and grow your business.

Do you believe in this story?

A lot of organisations say they do, but the truth is they need to be persuaded to start really believing it and taking action accordingly.

Just like Patrick had to persuade the Irish to believe in his story, so do we have to persuade you to believe in ours.
Now doesn’t it feel a little bit like being an evangelist? Maybe sometimes it does, hence the name Shamrock.

And what about that logo then?

The logo of our company is a stylish artist impression of the traditional shamrock symbol. or to be precise, three shamrocks on top of each other.
Yep, three of them because we do three things to help you to protect your business: information security, data protection (privacy) and risk management.

This also aligns with our company brand names which are Shamrock Information Security, Shamrock Privacy Advice and Shamrock Risk Management.
And yes, Shamrock InfoSec as well, as InfoSec is just a handy shorthand of Information Security which spells easier and fits better on some cards too.
